Vaingloriously Not in the Same Vein

it’s really interesting to me that white people twist the whole “I’m not really qualified to voice opinions or talk over POCs when it comes to racism debates because I have privilege” into “I’m not allowed to have an opinion.”

Because like how can they accept that logic as “unbiased” and “totally unfair” while still saying shit like “well but race has nothing to do with the lack of WOC lawyers, or representation in the media…it’s just a lack of qualification.”

Like just think about those two statements together, right?

It’s basically saying

"Even if I know nothing about this particular topic, I have no specialized research in it, I have not experienced many of these things you are discussing, I still feel like being dismissed is inherently unfair and morally wrong and discriminatory. But…when it comes to you folks, and day-to-day socio-economic inequality…you’re just making that up! You’re just not qualified! Qualifications matter!"
