A little PSA:

MY “ASIAN-NESS” is NOT SOMETHING THAT IS YOURS TO DETERMINE.

Whether or not I am a “real Asian” is not something that a person can objectively measure with any sort of weirdly stereotypical factors including, but not limited to: 

• my mathematical abilities
• whether or not I speak chinese
• whether or not I play a musical instrument
• whether or not my parents are strict
• whether or not I speak an Asian language
• whether or not I am particularly nerdy or academically driven 
• whether or not I am socially awkward, have only asian friends, 
• or like things that surprise you, like hip hop

THESE ARE NOT FACTORS THAT DETERMINE MY ASIAN-HOOD.  THESE ARE SIMPLY STEREOTYPES THAT FUCKING WHITE SOCIETY HAS DETERMINED TO BE “IMPORTANT” WHEN IT COMES TO EMBODYING WHAT BEING “ASIAN MEANS.”

There is ONE THING, and one thing alone, that will determine if I am a “real Asian” or not:

• Am I a person with ethnic roots from a country in Asia? 
• if so, yes I am asian

if not, NO you are NOT ASIAN.  Even if you think you embody some sort of weird amalgam of Asian stereotypes in your head, YOU ARE NOT. FUCKING. ASIAN.
